Gone are the days when the celebrities from tinsel town honoring the requests of TV channels to take part in their programmes free of cost. It happened on friendly basis or based on the assumption that such participation would be publicity.

Recently, however, stars have started charging the TV channels for their participation. Silambarasan, for example, got some lakhs per day to participate in Jody No 1 show in Star Vijay TV. Namitha too got a lump some for her participation in Kalaignar TV’s Maanada Mayilaada show.

Captain Vijaykanth used to urge the stars when he was the president of the Actors’ Union to charge a reasonable amount to participate in TV shows and programmes. His wish is being fulfilled after he has quit the post.
